Heirs of Power by Kay MacLeod

4.0

This was such a unique fantasy book, after reading many fantasy books that follow such similar tropes and story lines, this one was very inventive and creative. The land and creatures that filled it felt so real and I found once I finished it I didn't want to leave. There was enough action to keep me reading along with dynamic action and battle scenes. The characters were one of the best parts of the book for me however, the character banter was on a similar level to that of Six of Crows (which if you know me is very high praise). My favourite character by far was Asher (the Juggler). His friendship with the dependable and lovable Kitty was another high point to the book and I loved how their interactions never felt forced, but progressed naturally. I actually cannot wait until the sequel is released!
