The Storyteller: Tales of Life and Music
by Dave Grohl
I love music and went from age 12-22 in the 90s (my formative years), so I am a fan of Nirvana and Foo Fighters. I never got to see Nirvana in concert, sadly, but I have seen Foo Fighters and they put on such a great show. Reading this book is what I imagine it would be like to sit across from Dave Grohl at a bar and ask him to tell you stories from his life. I loved them all. I wanted more. I enjoyed hearing about his friendships and family as much as I did the stories of the bands, the touring, the recording, and the music. He seems like such a delightful human being, and someone you'd want to be friends with even if he wasn't a famous musician. He and his stories remind me of some of my friends who were in bands over the years. As I read, I laughed, I cried, and I remembered, because music is so wrapped up in so many of my memories. I would read so many more of Grohl's tales, and I hope he writes another book down the road.
