Tender, reflective, earnest - at times this books really shines, especially as it hits its stride, and I adore the way the protagonist speaks/doesn't speak of her own feelings and emotions. The plot is a bit meandering at times, and sometimes the main character comes accross as a little preachy, or self congratulatory- but overall a really sweet book that really has you rooting for Agnes.
Graphic: Animal cruelty
Moderate: Emotional abuse, Death of parent, Classism
Minor: Infidelity, Sexism, Grief, Pregnancy
