In the Afterlight by Alexandra Bracken

Actual rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

I only gave this book 4 stars out of respect for the first two books.

The moment I started In The Afterlight I knew it wasn't going to end the series how it deserved to be ended. I kept finding myself wishing I could be done with it already. Yes, I did like (I'm using the word like very loosely right now) this book. BUT it could have been sooooo much better.

I think the reason I didn't enjoy it as much and the main problem I had with book was Ruby. I absolutely did not like her in this book.

First off, her relationship with Cole was weird. I found myself wondering through the whole book if she was going to end up with him.

Second off, her relationship with Liam was also weird. It seemed like the only time they weren't jumping down each other's throats, picking arguments, keeping secrets from each, etc. was when they were making out. Honestly, I feel like this book did not do justice to their relationship, to giving it some substance. I feel Ruby and Liam's relationship wasn't very well done. I feel like Ruby and Liam's relationship also was reduced to having sex for the first time. Like I said, that's the only time they weren't fighting.

Ruby was always keeping secrets from everyone expect Cole, and putting all of her faith and trust into Cole instead of the people that have been there for her since the beginning of the series. She always thought what she was doing was for the best and she was protecting people when in all honestly she was just being stupid.

I feel the ending was rushed and not very well though out. I expected so much more from this book
