Against the Loveless World by Susan Abulhawa

challenging dark emotional funny reflective sad medium-paced

5.0

A very late contender for the best book I’ve read this year! The writing is excellent, the character building is so strong, and the story was just so compelling and well crafted. Nahr was a wonderful character to inhabit for this story, she is strong and bold and also imperfect, a revolutionary but maybe not in the overt sense of the word. This story is heavy but ultimately hopeful, it wasn’t always easy to read and it feels like such an important story in this moment especially. I don’t know why I haven’t gotten to this earlier, but I’m so glad I did!
