The 19th Christmas by Maxine Paetro, James Patterson
2.0
To everyone who gives these one star & says they have given up on the series, I say: "You're just reading them wrong." These are humor novels. By chapter 23 I have already laughed out loud twice.
These are a stereotypical 1980's suburban housewife's idea of police work, of the law, of seedy neighborhoods, of romance. Every suspect (and witness) is a DIRTBAG PERP! Every child is a sweet angel baby. Every slightly dangerous situation MAY END LINDSAY'S LIFE (and she always has to ruminate on that end and what may come next for those she loves. Every time a gun goes off it's a WAR ZONE! (or a BLOOD BATH!) They are hysterical, trust me.
This one is a little boring compared to the last one. It is an attempt at a caper, but it is unbelievable and silly but not in a fun way. If the SFPD were this inept, San Francisco would be the crime mecca of the universe. Like most of the recent titles, the whole solve of this case has little to do with the investigation. And the side stories are just distractions. I've said it before Maxine, concentrate on ONE case...ahh then it would be less soapy, I guess.
What the heck does the cover or the title have to do with anything? This one was blah. Didn't make me laugh nearly as much as the previous one.
