I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman

5.0

This book is a puzzle that cannot be solved. A reflection on what humanity really is, what does it mean to be a woman? I enjoyed the book because it frustrates me- it never gave me a name or face or story as to WHY these women were imprisoned. The why of it all shows you where you stand in terms of what you think about humanity. What you think hope is. I found it hard, like the author, to shed the seed of hope in my heart that there will be some resolution or some explanation for the women and especially the main character, who doesn’t even have a name of of her own. Great literary book that makes you stop and think about the unknown.
