The Ex-Girlfriend Murder Club is a funny and lighthearted take on a murder mystery. Gloria Chao gives us three women who discover they have all been dating the same man, and just as they are plotting revenge, they find his dead body. What follows is a chaotic mix of undercover schemes, awkward lies, and some surprisingly genuine friendship.

This book does not take itself too seriously, which makes it easy to enjoy. The tone is playful, and the humor works well throughout. The premise is a bit over the top, and some moments definitely stretch reality, but that is part of what makes it fun. The story leans more into the comedy than the mystery, and while I would have liked a bit more suspense or unexpected twists, it still kept me engaged.
I figured out the killer before the ending, so the reveal did not hit as hard as it could have. Even so, it was entertaining to watch how the characters pieced everything together. Their banter and ridiculous plans were the real highlight of the book.

If you are looking for a quick read that does not demand too much and makes you laugh, this is a great choice. It is perfect for summer or a vacation when you want something easy and upbeat. This book is not meant to be taken too seriously, and that is exactly what makes it an enjoyable escape.
