The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit by Sloan Wilson

5.0

This book surprised me having gone into it without knowing anything about it. A contemporary novel of the early post war period of a man struggling with his duties and his changed sense identity after experiencing the horrors of war. With each drama I expected a modern takes of lowest common denominator poor decision making to heighten the drama. I was delighted when instead the characters reflections and sensibleness instead added strokes to a rich illustration of a character driven story. Before HBO there was The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit.
