4.5 stars!!
I have to admit I wasn't sure about this one diving in, Lynette Noni is my absolute favourite author and I LOVE her other two series, BUT I barely ever read contemporary romance. That being said I do love a good read with suspense and death-defying activities and Lynette definitely gave us that!
It started off okay. I prefer Lynette's world-building, and this was just a lot of info dump, which is normal but made me a bit scared to continue, once I got past that and we got into the adventure I could not stop reading!
I ended up LOVING the characters and loving the journey they went through! Yeah some things weren't realistic but also I'm a fantasy reader so I dodn't care 😂 some things that were very real was the talk about grief. I think that Lynette was just able to capture it in such a beautiful way and the conversations the characters had made me tear up.
Also side note, I did NOT see that ending coming like it was out of nowhere!
But anyway, the characters were definitely the highlight of this book for me, I did enjoy their little wilderness adventure but I found myself really connecting to the characters and loving the way they interacting with each other. Xander was just green flags all over, he had charm and was paitent and kind. Charlie was just amazing, she was witty and funny and I loved her little remarks. Her story was relatable and I was really able to connect with her and the way Lynette wrote her grief just made my own heart ache for her. I did also love all of the side characters, one thing about Lynette she know how to write loveable side characters and although we didn't see much of them I still loved them all alongside our MCs
If the blurb of this one sounds remotely interesting to you, and you love a good YA romance I would definitely recommend giving this one a go!
