Aristotle's Metaphysics
by Aristotle
A book on being as being, being-at-work, thinghood, and god, interspersed with a treatise on the nature of wisdom and philosophy. It’s an accumulation of subtlety that ultimately attempts to construct a grand view of existence that connects the universal with the particular. His explicative methods and comments on philosophy alone made it worth the read. There are numerous thorough refutations of other ideas, which can slow things down, but that also make it a great source for learning about the many other thinkers of his era. It’s interesting to see how and why Aristotle passed up ideas that were picked up later. After reviewing my highlights and notes, I can more easily see the coherence of the work and the many thought-provoking concepts and perspectives that still have me thinking.
