To Be Devoured by Sara Tantlinger
4.0
I went into this book with an idea of what to expect after reading a few reviews (and an undesired spoiler). Even then, I was not prepared for it. I'm just glad to be a vegetarian.
In a more serious? note: Although short, To Be Devoured definitely benefited from its length; it's a quick-paced story that hooked me and did not let me go. The descriptions made me feel queasy at some points, even though they're not extremely graphic—probably because we see everything from Andi's POV and her mind is a disturbing place without need of action. I take one star off (it would be half a star, but alas, not a possibility) because the last few pages were confusing to me; I could attribute it to Andi's state of mind, sure, but I'd have liked to understand what her reasoning was to do what she did at the end. In any case, I will be thinking about this story (and that ending) for a long time.
