Flame is the fifth book in the Carmichael Family series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Foxx Carmichael was a bodyguard for Bianca, but he stepped back for personal reasons. Now, she’s in danger, so he agrees to protect her and be her bodyguard again. But it’s not enough to keep her safe; her father made promises to others and the only way to avoid doing what her father wants is to get married. So, Foxx proposes the idea of getting fake married.

Ah, I’ve been waiting for Foxx’s book since I met him back in Fluke (yes, I know there are books before that, but I still haven’t gotten to them). Anyway, he was the elusive one, the grumpy brother who didn’t really joke around like the other Carmichaels (Banks especially). In this, we get to see so much more of Foxx; his story and what he’s been doing while he was “missing” in the other books.

Foxx was very protective and not just because it was his job. He was also extremely loyal to his friends. He had such a big heart and never wanted to step out of line, but he couldn’t deny his feelings.

Bianca was strong and so bubbly, despite the danger she was in. She had feelings for Foxx too, and she did everything she could to get him to admit his.

These two had chemistry from the start. They were different, but they were perfect for each other. And the heat between them, well, Adriana really brought the spice!

This was such a great ending to the Carmichael series, and I loved the crossover with the Brewers. I also liked seeing the rest of the Carmichaels features and questions I had from previous books were answered (the animal facts texts and all of Foxx’s keys being dropped off). Now I can’t wait to read about the Brewers family!
