While both wholesome and comforting, this story with its excellent illustrations takes on a lot of issues including hearing disability, chronic pain, parental abuse, alternative family structures, and the beginnings of new relationships. Each obstacle or situation is displayed so well but without feeling like a lesson. Rather, the story feels like how people tackle situations in real life, but with cults and magic mixed in haha. Additionally, non-binary representation!
