Stay Up with Hugo Best by Erin Somers

4.0

Comedy is not always funny. Do not go into this book thinking you're getting a light comedy or a book about the sordid underbelly of late night TV, because you will be disappointed. What you will get is a meditation on struggling to find your identity--when your identity is synonymous with your fame (as it is in Hugo's case) and when you feel like your identity should already be set and you're still trying to figure yourself out (as it is in June's case).

Somers handles the relationship between Hugo and June perfectly and while there will probably be readers who disagree, I think the ending was perfect.

Recommended for readers who:
* Like books with the action constrained by a specific time period (a weekend) and setting.
* Don't care if the characters are not always likable
* Are interested in the darker aspects as comedy
