The author did a great job at showing Tess' anxiety in each situation and the fear she had to overcome each time she argued with Nikolas. People keep saying that she's dormant, but don't they know how terrifying it can be for people with anxiety to act in situations like Tess found herself in? She was overwhelmed, terrified, and determined to keep her mother happy...even though her mother was honestly the worst character in this book.
Nikolas' character was great especially after he found out Tess had anxiety attacks. The way he cared for her was wonderful - yes, I know he was an asshole in the beginning, but hey, people change.
One thing that is consistent is my love for Viktor. I read the fourth book first and then the first, so I already knew what Viktor's personality was like. And I absolutely love him. He thinks of everyone as his best friend, whereas Nikolas thinks the mafia heads all have a strong bond between them (but he doesn't think of them as friends). My poor baby, Viktor. If anyone dares hurt that man, I'll get so mad.
