I was engaged throughout and I couldn't put the book down. Seeing June's thought processes go from bad to worse was like watching a car crash, you just couldn't look away. 
I do think it took a bit of a weird turn near the end and I can't say I'm surprised that
June didn't learn her lesson and was prepared to claw her way into relevance

I enjoyed reading the book more than I thought I would, R F Kuang can really write a good book.
