I hadn’t read this in years, and it used to be my favourite book in the world. I can see fucking why.
The Secret History is ridiculous and intoxicating, laugh out loud funny and incredibly dark and twisted. It’s one of those great novels that seems to exist to put your faith back in the English language. There’s really nothing else that lives up to it, despite hundreds of copycats trying. Absolutely give it a go, for all my waxing poetic about it being a seminal work of literature, it’s more accessible than her other books and, like, is fucking hilarious.
