I enjoyed this book, it was a cosy fantasy with likeable characters and a decent plot for just a short Novella, however I did feel it was just that.

Novellas are always a bit hit or miss for me, but I still enjoy them. They’re a good way to enter a new world and introduce yourself to a new author and their writing style.

This novella was written well and is one of my preferred novellas out of the ones I’ve read, my 3 ⭐️ rating isn’t a bad one, as I rarely rate them over 3 anyway, simply due to the limited content of such short books and how I find I don’t get overly attached to the characters or world in a smaller time span.
Despite this, I found myself enjoying the writing style of the author and I believe if I spent more time with the characters and in the world, when the plot developed a bit, I can see myself being sucked into this world. I’ll definitely be keeping a look out for more works by this author and I would recommend this book if you’re interested in finding and supporting a new author, this book would definitely be for you.

I found the characters enjoyable and I could support them throughout the book, which is sometimes difficult when things have to move at such a fast pace due to the smaller book, and although I struggled to keep up with how fast emotions seemed to grow between the two, I suspect that was due to the time jumps we had to have rather than the relationship being unbelievable, and I do think that there is a lot of potential to explore their relationship further.

Erryn as a protagonist was a fun and enjoyable experience, because I found her a bit bold and interesting, which I enjoyed as a contrast to what you’d imagine a soup maker to be like. Her backstory did feel a bit lacklustre after the amount of mystery surrounding it, but that can sometimes come with a cost fantasy, they are not meant to be daring with high stakes, so overall I did really enjoy my reading experience and would recommend this to all you guys looking for your next cosy trip into a new world
