Because of Miss Bridgerton by Julia Quinn
4.0
I’m not sure how I’ve managed to go this long without reading one of Julia Quinn’s novels. I’ve known about her for ages, but haven’t read her until I picked this up on a kindle sale to see what all the fuss was about. Oh my goodness, the banter! I am such a sucker for good banter, and that makes up the bulk of this book. In fact, there wasn’t really that much of a plot to speak of, but I didn’t even care, really. Hero and heroine have known each other for ever, have always thought the other was annoying, but discover over the course of a few random events that maybe there are some hidden depths they weren’t aware of. None of the plot points mattered particularly except as a backdrop for the hero and heroine to get to know each other. I’m oversimplifying the case a little, I suppose, but not by much!
Anyway, it was just the fun, light-hearted-without-making-me-roll-my-eyes read I was looking for. Except that it wasn’t clean. But I kind of suspected that would be the case. Show me a clean Julia Quinn and I’ll be a devoted fan for life!
