Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score

4.0

“We both just wanted someone to love us enough to make up for all the times we hadn’t been enough.”

This was definitely a thick book and although some parts were in fact long and stretched thin in some places, I do believe that it's length can be justified. However, despite the beauty found within the book and the ending having been pathed throughout the novels continuation - it felt just a tad bit rushed, as if Lucy was running out of ink to complete the story. Never the less a total 3.5 star rating, but four on goodreads because I do believe that it didn't deserve a three.

Whilst Knox was the king of baby temper tantrums, when he was with Naomi they were the pinnacle representation of Sunshine X Grumpy. Despite them being fully grown adults in their late thirties and early forties, they did have a tendency to act like children at times. I have a soft spot in my heart for the found family trope so to watch them become not only a family among the three of them but becoming a whole family within the town.

The epilogue had me almost in tears with (spoiler) Way calling Knox and Naomi mum and dad and adopting other children. It is clear now that I will be buying the second book as soon as it is published on the 21st of February.

It says something about the book, seeing that I actually ended up tabbing some scenes in the book. I loved the girls independence in the book, but have also discovered that I am a massive fan of small town romances, watching the town ice out Knox after and them all caring for each other as a team is my kind of cup of tea.
