the topics brought up in a 1939 book remain incredibly relevant almost 100 years later. though realistic, I found that the ending was just—an ending. nothing was achieved, nothing was resolved, and if anything, the ending made the rest of the book come to absolutely nothing. though i suppose it shows that even though their situation remains bleak, they would still help out others. still definitely worth a read :)
