The Sin Eater's Daughter by Melinda Salisbury

2.0

I really wanted to like this book, and I did at first. It's entertaining, and has an interesting world, but that's about it. I'm not usually so harsh on books. Usually I just say it wasn't for me, my kind of book, but this one just isn't good. It feels sloppy, cliché, and poorly written. I rolled my eyes more times than I cared to count at many parts. I never really grew attached to any of the characters and grew to be annoyed by Twylla by the end. There is too much convenience in the plot (sloppy) and all for the sake of the plot. The story had so much potential, but it's so poorly put together and written. It's a real shame. There are plot holes that range in all sizes and the 'plot twist' at the end felt like a betrayal from the author and more for shock value or perhaps the author didn't know what to do at that point with the messy plot. There was no satisfaction, and no intrigue for me. I have no desire to read anything else from this series or this author. I suppose it could be considered good to those only looking for a love triangle story set in a fantasy world. In that case sure it is great, and entertaining, and It was entertaining. I wouldn't have finished it other wise. But the writing is just so poor I couldn't let myself ignore the cliché's or sloppiness. I don't recommend this book obviously.
