This book has more TERF representation than trans rep.
It reads like a at best mediocre fanfiction I genuinely don't understand how this got published. The story is a complete mess and the "twists" made me want to bang against a wall repeatedly. What even is going on I'm so confused. Felix is genuinely so unlikeable it's so annoying to read his perspective on things. Delcan is the same way.
The half assed redemption arc that he got (if you can even call it that) was genuinely horrible to read. Boo fucking hoo he had a hard past, that doesn't justify the way he treated Ezra and Felix. Communication does infact exist yk.
Talking about Ezra. He was the only reason I pulled through and finsihed this book. He is such a sweetheart and I loved seeing all the platonic affection him and Felix shared. Or wait what was that? Platonic? OH RIGHT HE WAS IN LOVE WITH FELIX ALL ALONG. Horrible.
Felix feelings towards Declan and Ezra were nothing but confusing. PLEASE for the love of god how does Ezra kiss him and he's like oh sorry I'm in love with Delcan 😝 and a month later he's like nvm babe come back 🥺 I HATE HIM and how in the living hell did this author make me sympathize with Delcan more than Felix?? The poor guy had me wishing i could punch Felix multiple times. I felt so horrible for him.
And I'm sorry but you cannot tell me that it took going to a support group to find tue label Demiboy. It's really not that hard to find especially for someone who claims to have done the research.
The few and far between profound moments in the book were immediately destroy by Felix being like "oh well... let's text my best friends ex who treats both of us horribly, i think i like him"
Omg and WHO TEXTS WITH A STRANGER ON INSTAGRAM WHO DOES NOTHING BUT HARASS YOU? Blocking does infact exist. Like what is going on. And sorry but no way in hell did Declan text about his life story and fell in love with someone who called himself "luckyliquid" and Instagram, every sane person would look at that and go "ah yes a sex bot i should block them".
Genuinely I could write a whole new book about how much disliked this book.
I bought this bitch what am I supposed to do with this? I don't want to expose trans people to all the transphobia in this book.
That's another thing. Who is this book for? Bc it's a trans "romance", but it talks in the most basic ways about the queer experience, anyone who's queer knows these things. For baby queers? I hope not most every person in this book is a horrible role model. Cis people? Maybe.
I could write so much more but I'm sick of spending time thinking about this book.
I don't recommend it.
