I started reading this two months ago and got about 50% before I had to return it. It was interesting but I was not hooked yet. Two months later I get the book again and this time I'm hooked almost immediately.

The writing in this book absolutely pulled on my heartstrings. It takes a while for the characters to really change and grow...it sucks to watch miscommunication and other unspoken things cause distance, but I knew it had to happen in order to get to the ending.

I found the writing also really unique in that we switch perspectives between Sam and Sadie; and we really see "the other side" to the story and it makes the reader empathize with both.

I've only dabbled in some video games but it made me fall in love with video games a bit more.

Spoilers:
- I absolutely am/was a Go nerd back in uni, so when the game Go made an appearance in the book I was fangirling!!
- I'm a huge fan of Stardew Valley and just recently started playing Animal Crossing. It felt really cool that Mapleworld and Pioneers would be a game in my genre of interest.
- I was slightly dissatisfied by Sadie's response to Sam's game for her and the ending. I wish they could have talked a bit more about what they wanted from each other. Sam certainly seemed to want to be partners to some degree, just without a sexual intimacy for example. I guess it is somewhat "in character" for them to still not be able to fully talk about things like that to each other. I loved how in the latter part of the book Sam could be so honest with himself about how/why he didn't have the courage to be with Sadie and feel that he missed his chance.
- Marx's P.O.V. chapter was heartbreaking and beautiful. The whole time we kind of do see Marx as a "NPC" but getting his perspective and how he loves both Sam and Sadie so much, especially shown in the small flashbacks was so cool to see.
