The Ragpicker King by Cassandra Clare
5.0

Antonetta, Antonetta, Antonetta, Antonetta, ANTONETTA MY LOVE. I am desperately looking for more books like this. Please recommend me more books like this.

This is how you do slow-burn. The yearning in this book was dialed up to the max. Plus the 4D chess everyone was playing?? I cannot believe I need to wait to see how this game ends.

This second book had me tense. I had to pause several times because I was in utter awe. I don't know how Cassandra Clare is able to capture human emotions so precisely and efficiently. My heart aches for more than one characters in this story.

And the cleverness!!! There is non-stop bends and turns to the story, with each character holding their own. Anjelica is such a nice addition to the story. She is sharp and witty. And my dear Antonetta. You deserve all the flowers. The yearning between her and Mel left me breathless.

Conor remains such a fascinating character. There is so much depth to him. I loved seeing his ups and downs, and how he manage all of his court.

Again, I think Lin's story was the weakest part. She has her own struggles that took away from a lot of the court drama. But I ate up every scene she was in with Conor.

Lastly, it has been a while since I have been blown away by a book's ending. To say I never would have seen it coming. Yet, the clues were ALL THERE. Cassandra Clare you genius. Give me The Bone Conjurer RIGHT NOW.
