Relativity: The Special and the General Theory - 100th Anniversary Edition
by Albert Einstein
This book was a huge eye opener! I have always had an interest in the theory of relativity just based on its popularity and complexity. This book is a copy of the booklet Einstein published 100 years ago and it is still amazingly complex! Einstein states in his opening that he has written it for the non- understanding individual, ie someone who isn't fluent in physics! And to credit him he has for the most part; I didn't really have to re read sections until I got to how galilean coordinates are referenced in an arbitrary frame in the general theory. I did find the piece by piece build up to the special theory very interesting and then the lorentz equations were amazing! You can actually see how distance and time changes when velocity does!
The only reason I haven't given this five stars is that the reading companion included in the second half of the book didn't really explain it any clearer. I thought there would have been a "modernisation" of the language to make things more understandable, sometimes it was difficult trying to interpret what was being said and explained.
That aside, the book was amazing and I'll definitely be re reading it once I've read a few more lighter books!
