I loved the first book, so I had high expectations for this one. Maybe that’s why I was so disappointed. I was so underwhelmed, into a bit annoyed. The author doubled down on a slow romance with a very blind main character. And it just didn’t work this time. It was too obvious how much they cared for each other and Percy’s reasons for not discussing things with Cal didn’t make any sense. I wasn’t invested at all in their HEA.

Plus, I didn’t enjoy the cul-de-sac atmosphere, it felt way too contrived. And the writing felt disjointed to the point where I felt pushed into one setting/situation then thrown into another setting/situation with not enough solid reason why. It was jarring on the whole from scene to scene and the two boys were too obviously ignorant, I don’t buy that it’s just stubbornness, especially Percy, of each other.

I hope the third one is better. Based off of the first book, I’ll keep reading this series.
