The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart

4.0

"Gazing at the circled letters on the chalkboard, he felt a sudden, terrible chill. For LIVE, spelled backward is EVIL."

The Mysterious Benedict Society is about a group of 4 orphans, who all share some sort of special skill. Whether its Reynie's practicality and problem solving skills, Sticky's ability to remember everything, Kate's quick ability to escape anything, or Constance's insane stubbornness, each character and skill is necessary to complete the mission ahead. Mr. Benedict, a brilliant man who runs a prestigious school, has requested these children to go on a dangerous expedition to uncover and destroy the plans of Mr. Curtain. Mr. Curtain's "plan" is called the emergency", which includes telepathic messages sent around the globe to incite fear and desperation. This is necessary, of course, for Mr. Curtain to take control of everything and everyone. Their experience on this mission is full of riddles, deception, and tests of loyalty!

This book was so cool! There is really no other way to explain it! I don't think I've read anything quite like it. I really enjoyed seeing how the children solved these puzzles that I couldn't even begin to figure out! Not to mention the adorable friendship that these 4 create! I highly recommend this series!
