Body of Water: A Sage, a Seeker, and the World's Most Alluring Fish by Chris Dombrowski

"Horizon's so persistent--You take one step toward it, and it takes one step back. Precisely where does the water stop and the sky begin? I reference this unchartable point because the lines between biography, story, and myth seem even less definable, more arbitrary."

This book is at once biography of a person and a sport. I knew nothing about fishing, much less bonefishing in the Bahamas with a legend like David Pinder, and this book was a treat. Dombrowski's prose is both calming and somehow undulating, mimicking the water he writes about. I found the discussion of conservation towards the end of the book smart and meaningful. Handling the fish before releasing them into the water may possibly have an effect on their ability to evade predators, but the act of fishing and coming that close to these beautiful animals has actually made conservationists of many fishers. It's complicated.

Highly recommended for anyone interested in fishing or marine conservation.
