The Coming Wave: AI, Power and the 21st Century's Greatest Dilemma
by Michael Bhaskar, Mustafa Suleyman
Outstanding. Disturbing at times, but a fascinating read. Suleyman shows how AI, synthetic biology, and quantum computing are coming together in ways that feel both inspiring and unsettling. It’s part survey of new technologies, part call to arms to think carefully and set guardrails before things run away from us.
Well written and easy to stick with. Even though it came out in 2023, some of it already feels overtaken by events in 2025, which just shows how fast this space is moving.
The book isn’t just doom and gloom. Suleyman does suggest paths forward and keeps an overall optimistic tone. Personally, I’m not sure I share that optimism, but it’s a compelling case all the same.
Highly recommended
