I find Kings writing style incredibly easy to read, however the length of this book did feel like a slog in places.
I enjoyed the lead character and his journey, although the book is kind of split in two. The first half is a coming-of-age tale set in the real world, which I enjoyed but found myself desperate to get to the fantasy stuff. However, once it got to that stage, it didn’t resonate with me as much as I was hoping, and the themes seemed a little disconnected to what the first half had set up.
It’s a decent story, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as many of the authors other titles.
