Shiver by Allie Reynolds
5.0
This book absolutely gripped me from start to finish. The highlight for me was the innate evilness simmering beneath the surface of nearly every character—something Allie Reynolds captures with such subtle intensity that it gave me chills. That lingering, creepy sensation of something lurking just out of sight was perfectly executed and elevated the whole reading experience into something deliciously eerie and unsettling.
I lived for the tea and drama—there’s something so satisfying about watching messy, morally grey characters unravel in a locked-room, snowed-in scenario. The feisty friendships, the tangled relationships, the jealousy and ego—it all felt so raw and unfiltered. Every single character was compelling in their own twisted way, and I couldn’t look away.
I also didn’t expect to enjoy the romance elements as much as I did, but they added a whole new layer to the story. The romantic tension, past heartbreaks, and vulnerabilities brought a softness that contrasted beautifully with the book’s overall darkness.
Even though I had a good idea of who was behind everything before the final reveal, the very end—especially the chilling resolution of what really happened to Saskia—blew me away and sealed this as a 5-star read for me. I loved the ambiguity, the emotional weight, and the haunting atmosphere that clung to every page like fog in the cold.
The snowy, isolated setting, the “trust no one” vibe, and the psychological tension running through every interaction made Shiver an unforgettable ride. I couldn’t put it down and honestly didn’t want to. This is one of those rare thrillers that delivers both in character depth and suspense.
