Sweet. Tender. Melancholic and the power of Vulnerability.

A groundbreaking prose which has its firm stance on love, longing and a sense of belonging. It has defined the phrase “home is where the heart is”. While touching the subject of existentialism, the book perfectly weaves through the fact what true love actually is. Both Raif and Maria show such vulnerability and tenderness, and their view towards life is something to ponder upon.

It did take its sweet time, at the beginning, to take off, but when it did it marvels. It was such a wonderful experience to see how both the characters lives unfold in their short span of togetherness. It conveys a kind of liveliness and a sense of urgency which evokes such profound inner feelings. Both Maria and Raif's love for each and how they share that with one another is so beautiful. Whether it's Raif's vulnerability for his quest for belonging or Maria's quest for love, it all breaks the conventions of love that society imposes. What stands out to me that one scene when Raif teared up with Maria's touch and tenderness. I think this is what love makes you feel. A sense of vulnerability, a mix of happiness diluted with a touch of sadness.

Maria impressed me a whole lot. Her belief in life is raw and thought-provoking. I don't know how to define her because every word I found for that matter feels wrong.

It is sad and gut wrenching to think about, but at the same time it shows what real love makes us feel and how it changes our perspective in life.
