Objectively, this is a four star read, subjectively, I enjoyed the hell out of it so I will be giving it five stars instead.
It was just SO FUN, a bit chaotic, the chemistry between Tristan and Morana was leaping off the page and the story gripped me from the start.
It's actually a really fast read, I feel like I could've binged all the books in one go and still wanted more. So I'll probably get through the other books faster than I did this one. But I also didn't wanna finish it too quick, because it was so good, you know.
The one thing that bugged me a bit was how many times Tristan's blue eyes were emphasised, like if you didn't remember the first time, that's okay, because you will be reminded in every scene he's in!! Similarly, how huge/tall he is and how much smaller she is compared to him, but it's not as bad as in some other books.
As for the mafia part, I have no complaints. Is it a bit ridiculous? Yes. But at the same time, Runyx did it a whole lot better than many other authors, and this was only her first book, so it probably gets even better in the later ones.
I really wanna know where the whole missing girls storyline is going to go, and if it's going to stretch throughout the series or be wrapped up in book two...which I'll be jumping into tomorrow, most likely.
I've been meaning to read the Dark Verse series for such a long time, and I'm glad I finally started, I can see why it's so popular.
