Woman of Light by Kali Fajardo-Anstine

5.0

From the very first line Woman of Light held me captivated. What a beautiful, and at times, heartbreaking story. I quite literally could not put Luz's story down once I started.

The story follows Luz, a Mexican American in Denver in the 1930s. Luz is a tea reader who reads fortunes and her visions transport her to the past, where we follow generations before her. The hostile environment was gut wrenching and to see Luz strive was truly motivating.

I did not care for her relationships with either men. From the beginning I saw David as a read flag and found myself yelling at her during their interactions.

I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to reading more story by Kali.
