The Crossing Places

DNF at 32%.
This book is awful. I lost count of the amount of times she mentioned her weight it felt extremely unnecessary and fat phobic. How crazy is it for a main character to call herself “Fat” a million times within the first chapter alone (and it didn’t stop there)when it has NOTHING to do with the story?! And to put an actually weight and size to said fat label is taking it too far. I just imagined the people reading this book who are that size and bigger and how uncomfortable that is! It’s not even like Ruth was the only one to mention her weight, the other characters did it too.
Beyond that the characters were superficial and flat. The author basically type casted every character they all had one trait that made up their whole personality. The only reason I made it as far as I did is because I don’t DNF books before reading at least 100 pages. I really wish I would’ve broke my rule
