(I've read the new edition)

It didn't do it for me. I was intrigued enough by the story to read it whole, but I got no interest in the characters, the romance, or even the story which ended a bit bleak.

There are battles, which goes by fast. We talk about potential "sacrifice" in the blurb on the back of my book? But that's not really what's happening here, or even being risky. It's battle on battle on battle on battle, here and there a couple Victorian-era season balls, but that's it. It ended up pretty much redundant, except toward the end when there were most risks and losses, which leads towards book 2 with a small cliffhanger.

I haven't felt any chemistry between Aileana and Kiaran, but I do get why they got a bond and why they get closer. I'm a bit sad as I was counting on the romance to make up a bit haha

I sadly won't be continuing the series.
