The Winemaker's Wife by Kristin Harmel
4.0

This was my second Kristin Harmel book and while I preferred the previous to this one, I still enjoyed this novel. It follows the story of Ines Chauveau, a young French winemaker’s wife throughout World War II. It focuses on the decisions she made which impacted not only her life but those all around her and the way she comes to terms with them years later. I found the storyline compelling especially with the dual affairs and the twist of identity at the end. Ines as a character was frustrating as she was selfish and really only thought in terms of herself for most of the book. Even when she joined the resistance at the end it was as a way to atone for her sins of causing Michel and what she thought was Celine's death as well.
