I really like some of the core ideas behind this book, but I don't think Taylor ever quite reconciles the tone of the book. The hopeful/optimistic tone of the book is overwhelming at time, with its invincible hero. I think it is better suited for a darker story -- this is why Taylor's DCeased is so effective -- but here, it often reads weightlessly whimsical.
