I struggled with this book a bit because the writing is beautiful and the whole message of hope for a more equitable future is inspiring. But, the journey of getting there is slow and with so many characters. This ultimately leads to very strong emotional attachments (both positive and negative) to the characters which wouldn’t be accomplished otherwise, but the essence of the book plot deviated a bit. 

I’m glad I read this, for the writing and connection to the characters but would only recommend it to the right type of reader.
