This review is a long time coming, because 1) I hate writing reviews, and 2) it felt like it took me forever to finish this book. I was intrigued by the premise of Wildblood but it was difficult for me to get into the story. I both loved the jungle setting (and wanted more of its weird backstory and inhabitants) and hated it, because hot and buggy isn't my cup of tea. There was a LOT happening. I didn't feel I got to know any character well enough to form a strong opinion about them, including Victoria, the protagonist and narrator. The romantic relationship in the book didn't sit quite right with me. The best part of Wildblood was the ending. It was satisfying, and did bump up my estimation of the book.
I've seen some great reviews of the author's previous novel. I plan to seek it out soon.
