I would give it more stars if I could. I love it!
I have to shout out the structure. The action climax happens at around 2/3 of the book, the rest is dealing with the aftermath. I just love when authors do that! I've only ever seen one other book with a similar structure, and it might be my favourite thing about that book too.
Killing Mamoru was cruel though. He was so young! I was already upset when he lost his fingers, but then that wasn't even the end of it! And no one was there to see him mastering the Whispering Blade in his final moments. It's just so cruel!
I have to shout out the structure.
Graphic: Child death, Death, Miscarriage, Misogyny, Sexism, Blood, Grief, War
