The Wave in the Mind: Talks and Essays on the Writer, the Reader, and the Imagination by Ursula K. Le Guin

4.0

Le Guin's personality shines through in these essays, and I like her very much as a person. Her style is showcased nicely too; it's clear from these essays that style and craft mean a great deal to her.

However, this all felt like a car revving in the garage. The subject matter was fairly interesting - the process of writing, oral traditions, a bit of autobiography - but the end result was that I just wanted to read her fiction and see her really let loose.

(I started reading [b:The Left Hand of Darkness|18423|The Left Hand of Darkness (Hainish Cycle #4)|Ursula K. Le Guin|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1488213612s/18423.jpg|817527] right afterwards and it lives up to the hype so far).
