I still really enjoyed this book, however, my rating did go down to 4 from 5 stars. The world building is great, but there was something lacking in Alina's relationship with both Mal and the Darkling.  I felt like I was mostly re-reading this in order to set the stage for the Six of Crows duology, which is by far my favourite series in the grishaverse.
