Just listened to the entirety of this on a flight. I… did not love it. The three body trilogy is probably my favorite series of all time and one of the highlights of my year, and so much of what this book did felt unnecessary or just far too abstract to the point that it felt more fantastical than science fiction. Plus, the story was almost entirely characters telling each other about events instead of them actually happening, including most of the events that happen after Death’s End. I’m glad this book exists but I am happy not to consider it canon.
