The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon
4.5

Really enjoyed this book- I half read it and half listened to the audiobook. I must've grazed over the fact it's inspired by a real person though. I had no idea until I read the Author's Note that there's a real Martha Ballard (and she's related to the founder of The American Red Cross and to one of the first female physicians in the US?! Talk about a legacy).

Should've expected the Lorena Bobbit moment when it was foreshadowed too, but it was one of the moments I audibly gasped.
