Deadly Silence by Rebecca Zanetti
4.0

I was hoping for a spinoff after I finished the last book in the Sin Brothers series as there were some loose threads remaining to be pulled. This was a good start and I was happy to see some character crossover.

The story begins with Zara Remington and Ryker Jones already in a "casual" relationship. She's a paralegal and he's a private investigator who does work for her firm and travels almost constantly. Things start to shift when she gets embroiled in her friend's divorce and Ryker goes all Alpha male when she gets hurt.

Ryker also has two brothers who work with him and the three bonded when they first met at a boys home in their youth (sound familiar?). They're hiding a big secret about their past that they have to confront when an unusual client asks for help in finding someone. And, all three are trying to find a serial killer who targets red headed women.

There's a lot going on in this story and I'm a fan of multiple plot lines. However, the serial killer aspect took a backseat to Zara's issues and the brothers' search on behalf of their client. It's a strong start to the series and it has a continuing story arc so not all things are wrapped by the end of the book. I think you'll enhance your reading experience by reading the other series first, though as there are important elements that serve as a foundation. However, if you don't, you won't be lost. And, I listened to the last book in the first series and regretted that I hadn't switched earlier. Karen White continues as narrator here, bringing a familiarity that I found essential. Bring on the next book! 3.5 stars

(I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review)
