A YEAR OF READING WOMEN CHALLENGE
April - works by women of colour.

The Color Purple is a classic that I put off reading for a long time, and now I'm ashamed I left it so long. I love, love LOVE this book, and the character of Celie will endure with me for a long time. I've read other works that are set around the same time and place, most notably Toni Morrison's incredible Beloved, but what grabbed me about The Color Purple was Celie's unique and captivating voice. There's not much to say about this book that hasn't been said hundreds of times, just know that I love it.
