Normal by Warren Ellis

4.0

Everyone here gazed into the abyss for a living. Do it long enough, and the abyss would gaze back into you.

Normal is a very short novel by Warren Ellis. He is a man with a lot of crazy ideas and an excellent, descriptive writing style. This book focuses on Adam Dearden, a future strategist who has had a mental breakdown and is brought to a facility called Normal Head. Normal Head is built for people like Adam, to unplug from society and give them peace and quiet while they try to dry out their paranoia.

Adam isn't so lucky though and shortly after his arrival a series of bizarre events begin to occur which put him right back in investigative shoes, the shoes that let him to madness in the first place!

I do wish that the book was longer but I think that is a good indicator that it was really interesting. The characters were really brass, sassy and offensive, as Warren Ellis is best at depicting.
